Our Story

Hello there! My name is Aaron Meadows and my mission with Anansi Audio is to help you create the highest quality audiobooks possible and take away the headache of post-production so you can concentrate on the fun (and profitable!) stuff. I have over 12 years and 1500 audiobooks of experience, multiple Audie nominations, two SOVAS nominations, multiple earphone awards, and have worked with every major publisher, a half a dozen top production companies, and oodles of world-class narrators. Among Anansi’s credits include books by Stephen King, C.S. Lewis, Rick Riordan, Carl Hiaasen, J.A. Jance, Jeff Kinney, Mark Twain, Ernest Cline, and many more.

So why the name Anansi you ask? Wasn’t he a trickster and a spider (both less than admirable qualities)? This quote from mythology.net summed it up perfectly for me: “Anansi is the King of Stories, the joke maker, and the teacher of those who would follow these traditions. Anansi can be summoned by those with a gift for stories, either to listen to a well-told tale or to help someone who is talented but just beginning to become a master storyteller.”

Here at Anansi we do all manner of spoken-word projects, but our specialty is working directly with narrators to handle their post-production needs. Starting out, doing your own post is great and it is wonderful to learn about that side of the business, but most narrators find that when things start to get busy, hiring out the editing/proofing/mastering to a pro has many benefits. Besides getting a higher quality finished product, having more time to record means taking on more projects, which means more money in your pocket, so I guess you could say that we are in the “win-win” business!
